On Remo Celis:
At first we didn’t get along. But we had two main things in common, weed, and Hip Hop. But the the third and most important thing that I think of after his death, is the Bernie Mac show.
When I moved to Honolulu, Remo was the only person I knew on the island. It was through necessity and circumstance that I began to travel across the island to wherever he stayed, in order to get some marijuana.
It was because of these journeys that I began to spend longer amounts of time w/ Remo, smoking and chilling. He was a very receptive dude, who wanted me as a friend, and went out of his way to make sure our relationship developed.
The first time this happened was about the 3-4 time I went to his house, and he had the Bernie Mac show on. I told him that ever since i moved to Honolulu that had been my favorite show and for some reason it gave me a lot of comfort when I was lonely.
Remo told me that he loved the Bernie Mac show, and from that moment on we spent a lot of time getting High in his Apartment in Kalihi, watching Bernie Mac.
What I learned was that when you need a friend, you really need a friend. And a friend isn’t someone you always agree with, or relate to. A friend is someone who takes the time and effort to be there for you, for no good reason at all.
I love you bro.
